Midtown Manhattan

Amanda and I had a quick dinner one night at Fuku+ after doing some shopping in the area. Their drink menu had a Midtown Manhattan listed with the following liquors, no quantities: rye, armagnac, fernet, bitters. I had one and it was delicious, so the following weekend my friend Joe Chrisman and I did some testing to figure out the proportions. It was a little harsh, so we added some simple syrup to sweeten it up slightly. Here is what we settled on:

Midtown Manhattan

  • 1oz Rye
  • 1oz Armengnac
  • 1/2oz Fernet
  • 1/4oz Simple Syrup
  • 1 dash Angostura Bitters
  • 1 dash Orange Bitters

To quote my friend Tyler Machovina, this drink “highlights the tasty parts of Fernet and downplays the parts that taste like poison.”
