I first made French 75s on December 31, 2013. We were hosting a small NYE party and I had a recipe that I scaled up for a group, but not what it should be served in. For some reason I thought they should be served out of a wine glass…which is significantly larger than a champagne flute. These are pretty boozy cocktails, so having a wine glass full is like having 2 regular cocktails. We got pretty drunk that night.
Don’t make my same mistake. Make sure to serve these in champagne flutes.
If you want flavor variations, try making flavored simple syrup or substituting the simple syrup for other syrups. The elderflower syrup from Ikea is particularly good in this drink.
You can also swap the gin for cognac for a different flavor profile.
